Achakzai says KP emergency is an assault on the Constitution
Outside Parliament House, Mehmood Khan Achakzai said the state has no writ in half of Balochistan and called the KP emergency an assault on the Constitution. Dawn reported the remarks on Monday.
Dawn says National Assembly Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai spoke to the media outside Parliament House on Monday.
He said there was no writ of the state in half of Balochistan, and alleged the Centre would not impose an emergency there because that chief minister is its favourite.
He called the KP move an assault on Pakistan’s Constitution and democracy, and said opposition parties would be asked to start a democratic struggle on Tuesday.
Barrister Gohar Khan said he would challenge the emergency in the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday. The KP Bar Council announced a strike of court work the same day.
