Bajaur terrorist attack kills police officer at Silai Pati
Militants struck the Silai Pati post in Barang tehsil late Thursday; police returned fire, the attackers fled, and funeral prayers were held in Khar on Friday.
One police officer was martyred when militants attacked the Silai Pati police post in Bajaur’s Barang tehsil late Thursday night.
District police spokesperson Mansoor Khan said the attackers belonged to Fitna al-Khawarij, the state’s term for banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan militants.
Police at the post returned fire; the attackers fled and no group has claimed responsibility.
Funeral prayers were held at the Police Lines in Khar, attended by the deputy commissioner, the DPO and local elders, before burial in Barang.
Bajaur authorities on Thursday imposed a 10-day ban on pillion riding under Section 144, citing the security situation.
