The New York Times and three other US newspapers accuse Brave of building a vast web index, selling access to AI firms, and offering a paywall blocker without publishers’ consent.

The New York Times sued Brave Software in Manhattan federal court on Monday, 2 November 2026, over alleged copyright scraping.

The Daily News, Chicago Tribune and Orlando Sentinel filed a similar suit the same day.
