Petrol price formula revised; Rs80/litre levy unchanged

The Petroleum Division has told OGRA that import rates will follow PSO cargo costs, while refinery premiums stay frozen at 7 March 2026 levels for the next 30 days.

The federal cabinet has approved a new formula for setting petrol prices, and the Petroleum Division has written to OGRA to apply it.

Petrol’s import price will be based on the actual cost of PSO’s import cargo, or the last available cargo if that cost is not yet known.

Oil refineries may keep premiums and related costs at pre-Iran–US war levels for 30 days, with ex-refinery petrol priced off the 7 March 2026 premium and customs duty.

Any gap between the import price and the refinery price will go into the petroleum levy account and is meant for petrol relief.

The Rs80-per-litre petroleum levy stays in place; Energy Ministry sources say that Rs80 is not linked to consumer relief.
