Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet endorsed the June 2023 accord in Islamabad, linking regional unrest to higher global oil prices and citing recent peace outreach.
The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved a defence cooperation agreement with Kuwait on Wednesday in Islamabad.
Officials said the accord is meant to strengthen military ties between the two countries.
The agreement was finalised on 11 June 2023 before this week’s cabinet ratification.
Sharif said regional unrest is a major driver of rising global oil prices and pointed to Pakistan’s recent diplomacy, including a visit to Tehran led by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
