Canva is restructuring 1,271 roles, equal to 22% of its workforce, in its first mass layoffs in 13 years.
Some staff will lose jobs; others face role changes or mandatory moves to centralised hubs across 37 countries.
Growth for 2026 is now expected around 20%, down from a planned 30%, with annualised revenue at $3.69 billion versus a $5.2 billion internal target.
CEO Melanie Perkins blamed a growth slowdown linked to AI design tools from rivals such as OpenAI and Google.
Departing staff are offered at least six months’ pay, up to 12 months’ health cover where applicable, company MacBooks, and a $10,000 start-up grant.
