Gift-route used cars reach 98% of Sept Pakistan imports
Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association told Haroon Akhtar Khan that gift-route used-car arrivals rose from seven in May 2026 to 2,238 in September and now dominate the segment.
PAMA wrote to industries adviser Haroon Akhtar Khan on 28 October seeking an urgent review of the used-vehicle Gift Scheme.
Gift-route arrivals rose from 7 units in May 2026 to 806 in June, 1,876 in July, 1,406 in August and 2,238 in September.
The association said the Gift Scheme accounted for about 98% of used-vehicle arrivals in September, while Transfer of Residence volumes stayed tiny.
