Court freezes CDA plans at Elahi Mosque graveyard, D-12
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan ordered the Capital Development Authority to keep the Elahi Mosque ancestral burial ground in Sector D-12 as it stands and file a written reply on a plea against grave removal.
Islamabad High Court restrained the CDA from further action affecting an ancestral graveyard in Sector D-12.
The order came on a petition by Waqar Ahmed seeking protection for the Elahi Mosque graveyard in Mauza Sari Saral.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan directed that the existing position of the graveyard be maintained.
The court sought a written reply from the CDA to the challenge against proposed removal of graves.
The petitioner says revenue records, survey reports and map imagery identify the site as a burial ground.
