HEC's 250-acre Kuri land now sits inside Margalla Enclave
The commission paid more than Rs1 billion in 2007 for 250 acres now inside Margalla Enclave; Monday's board did not take up alternate land.
The Higher Education Commission bought 250 acres at Kuri from the Capital Development Authority in 2007 for more than Rs1 billion, for two public universities.
Commission officials say that land was made part of Margalla Enclave and that the authority is offering about 25 acres in Sector I-17.
The alternate-land item was not taken up at Monday's board meeting and is likely to be considered at the next one.
The board did discuss the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, which is to be offered 13 acres in H-16, with a likely price adjustment.
The auditor general of Pakistan had raised the Kuri case years ago, and the Public Accounts Committee in June directed an early settlement.
