Colombia embassy in Jerusalem draws 18-state condemnation
A joint statement by Pakistan and 18 other Islamic countries says the Colombia embassy in Jerusalem breaks UN Security Council resolutions and asks Colombia to reverse the decision.
Pakistan and 18 other Islamic countries condemned Colombia's inauguration of its embassy in Jerusalem in a joint statement issued by the Foreign Office on Friday.
The ministers said the move contravenes relevant UN Security Council resolutions and undermines efforts toward a two-State solution.
They said any measure to alter the legal or historical status of Jerusalem, or to recognise it as Israel's capital, is null and void.
The statement asked Colombia's government to reconsider and reverse its decision.
The ministers reaffirmed the Palestinian right to an independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
