Pakistan cotton arrivals reach 4.08m bales by mid-October
Ginners logged 4.08 million bales by 15 October even as industry groups say hundreds of plants and mills have shut, blaming higher costs and alleged Export Facilitation Scheme abuse.
By 15 October, ginneries had taken in 4,081,265 bales, 7.53% more than a year earlier.
Punjab posted 1.64m bales (+7.79%); Sindh 2.44m (+7.35%), led by Sanghar.
Industry groups say about 500 ginning units and more than 150 textile mills are closed, with nearly half of power looms idle.
Mills bought about 3.45m bales; 531,530 remained unsold; 471 ginneries were running.
Ginners and Aptma blame cost pressure and alleged local sale of EFS imports meant for re-export.
