Drug pricing in Pakistan nears end of pending case reviews
Senator Ahad Cheema chaired a DRAP meeting on drug pricing in Pakistan, where officials said pending case reviews are almost complete and the pricing formula is under fresh scrutiny.
Senator Ahad Cheema chaired a DRAP meeting in Islamabad on 26 October to review pending drug-pricing cases and the existing pricing formula.
Officials said the case-by-case evaluation of pending drug-pricing cases is almost complete and were told to move them forward for processing.
DRAP is reviewing the pricing formula and checking provisions that may block fair, accurate price setting; no new across-the-board rate list was announced.
DRAP withdrew a hardship case on the WHO-recommended trivalent flu vaccine after officials said enough stock is available and international prices are controlled.
Cheema said unjustified price increases are unacceptable and urged people-centred rules, foreign benchmarks, and specialised pricing databases.
