PML-N may cut electoral reforms panel seats for coalition partners
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants PPP, MQM-P and smaller allies on the parliamentary electoral reforms committee, sources say, as PML-N considers cutting its National Assembly share below nine.
PML-N is considering reducing its seats on the parliamentary electoral reforms committee to make room for coalition partners, government sources said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants PPP, MQM-P and other allies represented on the panel.
Under the proposed formula, PPP would get five members, MQM-P one, and PML-N was initially allotted nine National Assembly seats.
One National Assembly member each from PML-Q, IPP and PML-Zia is also under consideration.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has sought nominations from PPP and MQM-P after a letter from Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
