FBR to brief PM Shehbaz on tax audit digital reforms
The FBR faceless system rollout, AI return analysis and digital monitoring to cut a roughly Rs1 trillion tax gap in 18 sectors will be laid before the prime minister.
The FBR will brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday on the Inland Revenue faceless system, digital reforms and a drive to cut a tax gap of about Rs1 trillion in 18 sectors.
A faceless framework for designated income-tax and sales-tax proceedings has been in force since 15 October 2026 through the National Faceless Centre, using AI and electronic handling.
Digital production monitoring is already live in sugar, cement, tobacco, tiles and fertilisers, with more sectors being wired up toward a December target.
The prime minister will chair a high-level review covering HR reforms, restructuring and integrity concerns in field formations.
