Steel makers on self-power face new FBR tax payment order
The board has set how FBR steel sector tax refunds and adjustments work for makers using captive or self-generated power, with payment due by the fifth of each month.
FBR issued Sales Tax General Order No. 31 of 2026 for steel makers on captive or self-generated power.
Additional sales tax is due on electricity units used for steel production each tax period, paid via a special PSID challan by the fifth of the following month.
An equivalent amount may be adjusted against output sales tax in STR-7 only after CPR verification.
Inland Revenue will check generation and consumption records; short payment or wrong declarations attract Sales Tax Act, 1990 action.
