Free hepatitis C care reaches GB and AJK at 9 centres
Three sites in Gilgit-Baltistan and six in Azad Jammu and Kashmir now offer no-cost tests and medicines under the prime minister’s national hepatitis C drive.
No-cost screening, PCR confirmation and medicines are available in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir under the prime minister’s national hepatitis C programme.
Officials say three centres operate in GB and six in AJK; people can also dial the 1166 helpline for guidance.
A PCR check alone is valued near Rs8,000, while a full course of medicines is put at Rs34,000 to Rs68,000—covered for eligible patients.
The same package began earlier in Islamabad, and the government says it intends to take the offer to more of the country.
Health authorities note roughly 11 million people in Pakistan live with the infection and stress that it is treatable when caught early.
