FBR senior member faces FTO-ordered fact-finding probe
The Federal Tax Ombudsman has told the FBR to open a formal fact-finding probe into a sitting BS-21 IRS member after a company said its ATIR appeal order went unserved for over two years.
The Federal Tax Ombudsman has directed the FBR to run a formal fact-finding inquiry into a sitting senior IRS/BS-21 member.
The official earlier sat as Accountant Member on an ATIR bench that heard a company appeal on 9 August 2024.
The complainant says no appeal order was served for over two years, while the ATIR portal listed a 12 September 2025 order date.
The FTO treated unanswered notices as a serious matter and asked the FBR Chairman for a self-contained statement from the member.
Counsel for the taxpayer welcomed the order as a signal that senior officers remain accountable on statutory rights.
