Twin cities LPG cylinder climbs to Rs6,500 amid Sui cuts

In Rawalpindi and Islamabad, piped Sui gas runs only in short daily windows while 11kg LPG cylinders cost about Rs6,500, pushing many households toward wood and coal.

Piped natural gas in the twin cities is available only about six hours a day in set meal-time windows.

Private LPG is selling near Rs600 per kg versus the Ogra fixed rate of Rs279 per kg; an 11kg domestic cylinder costs about Rs6,500.

SNGPL has not supplied LPG cylinders in Rawalpindi and Islamabad for two months, officials said.

Residents are cooking on wood and coal; food outlets say they are hardest hit by high cylinder prices.

The LPG Association said about 70% of gas used in Pakistan is imported and winter demand may push prices higher.
