Google Play System update error is a harmless date glitch
A Google Play System update error is putting a January 1, 2027 date on updates for some Samsung, OnePlus and Motorola phones, and experts say the Android system remains secure.
Some Samsung, OnePlus and Motorola phones show a Google Play System update dated January 1, 2027.
Security experts call the date a harmless labelling glitch on Google's servers.
Google's official release logs show no real 2027 update.
Users who installed the update, usually 90MB to 190MB, report no crashes or slowdowns so far.
Reports say Google plans to release a fix for the date soon.
