Azam Nazeer Tarar said a cabinet meeting of more than two hours and a letter from the KP governor under Article 234 preceded the move, after a reported 196 percent rise in incidents.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said on Sunday, 11 October, that the federal government has imposed governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He cited a sharp rise in terrorism and concern that the provincial government could not maintain law and order.
