Ishaq Dar confirms Nov 3 JI talks on petroleum levy
Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch said Ishaq Dar and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal confirmed November 3 for talks on a phased petroleum levy cut and wider fuel relief.
The government and Jamaat-e-Islami will hold another round of talks on November 3.
The agenda covers a gradual cut in the petroleum levy and steps to ease the public’s fuel burden.
JI Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch said Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the date with him.
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal told Baloch by phone that arrangements for the negotiations were being finalised.
An earlier government–JI deal created a six-member committee to propose expanding fuel relief and reducing the levy.
