IHC adjourns NAB 40-day remand challenge to mid-November
A division bench sought replies from NAB and the Attorney General on an intra-court challenge to the 14-to-40-day physical remand rule, and fixed the next hearing for the third week of November.
The Islamabad High Court issued notices to NAB and other respondents on an intra-court appeal over raising the maximum physical remand period from 14 to 40 days under a NAB ordinance.
The court also sought assistance from the Attorney General for Pakistan.
Justices Muhammad Azam Khan and Muhammad Asif heard the appeal against a single-bench order; Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique appeared for appellant Najeebullah.
Counsel argued the ordinance targeted the PTI founder and that its expiry did not settle the legality of actions taken under it.
Further proceedings were adjourned until the third week of November.
