IHC seeks replies on plea against travel restriction lists

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir ordered Interior, Immigration and FIA replies within a fortnight and sought the Attorney General’s help on the Passport Rules challenge.

The Islamabad High Court issued notices to the Interior secretary, Immigration director and FIA director general on a Judicial Activism Panel petition.

The plea challenges Rule 22(2)(b) of the Passport Rules, 2021, and lists such as PNIL, blacklist, stop lists, PCL and ECL.

Respondents must file reports and paragraph-wise comments within a fortnight; the Attorney General was asked to assist.

Further proceedings were adjourned to December 3.

The petitioner wants an integrated, auditable travel-status system so citizens can check and challenge restrictions.
