ICT Admin Steps Up Crackdown on Sheesha Cafes in Islamabad
The IHC sheesha cafe ban applies to every cafe in the capital, including those with earlier NOCs, until rules are framed and enforced.
The Islamabad High Court imposed an interim ban on all shisha cafes in Islamabad, in place until rules are framed and enforced.
Cafes holding earlier no-objection certificates (NOCs) are covered too, and the court said those NOCs are deemed withdrawn.
The chief commissioner, deputy commissioner and inspector general of police were directed to implement the order.
The district administration is sealing cafes and seizing equipment in E-11 and Bahria Civic Centre, and has ordered cases against owners who do not cooperate.
The draft Shisha Rules 2023 are still not finalised, and no deadline for them has been announced.
