Anti-terror court jails Mazari and Chattha for 10 years
An anti-terrorism court convicted the Islamabad-based lawyers over a 2024 convoy-route incident at Zero Point and imposed concurrent terms plus fines of Rs200,000 each.
An anti-terrorism court jailed Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha for 10 years each under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Prosecutors linked the case to a 25 October 2024 incident at Zero Point in Islamabad during England’s cricket tour; both deny the charges.
Extra one- and two-year terms for obstructing and using force against public servants run at the same time as the main sentence.
Each was fined Rs200,000; Amnesty International said the trial was not open and fair.
Earlier PECA jail terms of up to 17 years were suspended by the Supreme Court; the couple remain held in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
