Mazari, Chatha move SC after IHC rejects interim relief
Imaan Mazari Supreme Court filing with Hadi Chatha says an IHC decision on pausing their anti-terrorism trial risks making their pending high court plea ineffective.
Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chatha have approached the Supreme Court over an Islamabad High Court decision on their bid to halt trial proceedings in an anti-terrorism case.
They say that without an immediate stay, their pending high court application would become ineffective.
They argue the trial court moved hastily and recorded prosecution witness statements in a single day.
Their petition says removing security barriers did not amount to terrorism and alleges harassment and political victimisation.
On October 19, the IHC dismissed their request for an interim order on removing anti-terrorism provisions but issued notices on a separate plea to suspend the trial.
