Imaan Mazari, Hadi Chattha challenge convictions in IHC
The couple filed appeals in the Islamabad High Court against 10-year sentences that an anti-terrorism court imposed on October 29 in the security breach case.
An anti-terrorism court sentenced Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha to 10 years in prison each on October 29.
Each also received shorter sentences under Sections 186 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and Section 186 carried a Rs50,000 fine.
The couple filed appeals in the Islamabad High Court on a Friday, challenging the convictions.
The appeals argue the trial was unfair, citing how charges were framed, the jail trial and the state counsel assigned to them.
They have asked the court to suspend their sentences and release them on bail pending appeal.
