Iran distributes iodine tablets in Bushehr amid strike fears
A health official said 180,000 potassium iodide tablets have been distributed, starting near the nuclear plant before covering the whole city of Bushehr.
Iranian health authorities have distributed 180,000 potassium iodide tablets in Bushehr, a health official said.
Distribution began in areas around the country's only operational nuclear power plant, then covered the whole city.
The tablets protect the thyroid from radioactive iodine but not from other radioactive substances or external radiation.
The move comes amid continued Iran-US tensions after a military offensive launched on February 28.
On November 1, Trump warned Washington could strike suspected Iranian nuclear sites within 10 minutes.
