Islamabad ATC orders jail meetings for Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha

Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra told jail authorities to let their lawyers meet them. The case concerns an international cricket team's security route. The hearing was adjourned to 14 October.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra ordered that advocates Riasat Ali Azad, Zainab Janjua and Aimal Khan be allowed to meet Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha in jail.

The couple were indicted on 7 October. Dawn says the case is about the alleged disruption of an international cricket team's security route and incitement to public unrest.

On 10 October the court disposed of their plea to drop the terrorism charges. The defence said that order is also before the Islamabad High Court.

They attended Monday's hearing by video link. Hadi said they had been in jail for eight months and that cameras in the meeting area made private talks with lawyers difficult.

Proceedings were adjourned to 14 October. The court issued a fresh show-cause notice to Adiala jail and told it to produce Imaan by video link on 19 October in a related case.
