Islamabad High Court rules PTI MPO detention pleas spent
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro said the September 21 MPO orders had expired and the court took no view on later October 3 detention orders that were never challenged.
The Islamabad High Court disposed of petitions against MPO detention of four people, including two PTI lawmakers and a PML-N worker, calling the pleas infructuous.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro said disposal did not mean any unlawful detention was held constitutional or legal.
The court said detention orders dated 21 September 2026 had lost legal effect and offered no opinion on later orders dated 3 October 2026.
It stressed preventive detention must stay within the Constitution and law, including grounds within 15 days and a chance to make an effective representation.
