Twin cities school vans raise monthly fees after fuel surge

Parents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi say drivers want Rs2,000–4,000 more a month for short school runs; owners call the rise unavoidable after fuel, CNG and challan costs.

School van and private transport owners in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have raised monthly fares by up to 40% after the recent petrol price surge.

Parents say operators are seeking Rs2,000 to Rs4,000 more a month, often for schools only 3–5 km away, with no regulatory check.

Van owners argue the increase is unavoidable and that one operator claimed a rise of about Rs1,500 was justified.
