Israel orders West Bank lockdown before Tuesday's election
Latest Israel West Bank news: Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the lockdown after a Hebron-area attack wounded five Israelis, days before a tight national election.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an immediate cordon on Hebron and a full lockdown of the occupied West Bank.
Two Palestinians allegedly wounded five Israelis in a shootout at the Farsh al-Hawa checkpoint near Hebron; both were killed by Israeli forces.
The Israeli military said it killed the two attackers; Magen David Adom said two of the five wounded were in critical condition.
Hamas praised the attack without claiming responsibility; Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for a fresh military offensive.
The order comes days before Israel's national vote on Tuesday, in which Netanyahu seeks a new term.
