Block, Jack Dorsey's company, announced Dessa, an AI model it says was trained from scratch on nothing but human conversation.
Dessa is a speech-to-speech model: it works with voice directly rather than through text.
Block shared sample chats, including one where the model first mistakes the speaker for someone named “Ronaldo.”
The team says Dessa can run locally on a MacBook Pro M4 Max “or better.”
Early access will go to a small group of AI safety researchers; no public release date was given.
