JI long march from Multan warned if levy relief fails
Acting JI chief Liaqat Baloch said the party will march from Multan towards Islamabad in mid-November unless the petroleum levy is eased within a 10-day window sought by the prime minister.
Liaqat Baloch warned Jamaat-e-Islami may launch a long march from Multan towards Islamabad in mid-November if petroleum levy relief is not given.
The party linked the warning to a 10-day period Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sought to decide on the levy.
JI wants the petroleum levy abolished and says it has already blocked roads at 510 places and held weeks of sit-ins and rallies.
A train march from Karachi towards Islamabad was paused after the prime minister promised substantial relief.
Rallies are planned in Quetta, Mirpur Khas, Bahawalpur, Mansehra and Sargodha before any mid-November march.
