K-Electric load shedding schedule: curb ordered in 3–6 months
NEPRA told the Sindh High Court that the K-Electric load shedding schedule must stop unannounced or excess cuts in SITE Area, with steps to reduce or end outages in three to six months.
The Sindh High Court disposed of a petition by 19 industrial units over prolonged, unannounced load shedding in Karachi’s SITE Industrial Area after reviewing a NEPRA report.
NEPRA said it has directed K-Electric to stop unannounced cuts, outages outside the set schedule, and excessive load shedding.
NEPRA also directed steps to reduce or end load shedding in the petitioners’ areas within three to six months.
Regular bill-paying consumers cannot be disconnected for feeder theft, unpaid dues elsewhere, or high feeder losses; action should target individual defaulters and theft cases.
Counsel for the petitioners said SITE Area was facing 10 to 12 hours of daily load shedding, hurting industry and business.
