SHC closes SITE case after NEPRA curbs on K-Electric
Sindh High Court disposed of a petition by 19 industrial units after NEPRA told K-Electric to stop unannounced and excessive outages and cut them in petitioners’ areas within three to six months.
Sindh High Court disposed of a petition by 19 industrial units against unannounced and prolonged outages in Karachi’s SITE Industrial Area.
NEPRA told the court it had ordered K-Electric to stop unannounced, off-schedule or excessive load shedding.
NEPRA directed steps to reduce or end load shedding in the petitioners’ areas within three to six months.
Regular bill-paying consumers cannot have supply cut over feeder losses, theft or others’ unpaid dues, NEPRA said.
Lawyer Raja Naveed said SITE was facing 10–12 hours of load shedding a day, hurting industry and business.
