The Italian finished third for Mercedes behind Verstappen and Hamilton in a red-flagged Mexico City Grand Prix, locking an unassailable 119-point lead.
Kimi Antonelli became Formula One’s youngest world champion at 20 years and 68 days after finishing third for Mercedes in Mexico City.
Max Verstappen won the restarted race; Lewis Hamilton was second after a clash with Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc.
Antonelli’s championship lead is now an unassailable 119 points; Verstappen is second overall and George Russell fourth, 130 points back.
He is Italy’s first F1 champion since Alberto Ascari in 1953; Sebastian Vettel previously held the youngest-champion mark at 23 years and 134 days.
Mercedes lead the constructors’ standings 630–504 over Ferrari and could clinch that title in Brazil next weekend.
