Pesco cuts power to 316 transformers across KP circles

Pesco teams have switched off supply across Peshawar, Khyber, Swat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and other circles over unpaid arrears running into millions of rupees and alleged theft.

Pesco has disconnected power supply to 316 transformers in several Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions.

The drive targets prolonged nonpayment of electricity bills and electricity theft, launched towards the end of last month.

Khyber circle alone saw 116 transformers cut over Rs117 million in unpaid dues; Swat had 94 cut over Rs100 million.

Supply is restored where consumers clear bills and pledge to stop theft, Pesco’s spokesperson said.

In Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, a joint task force cut five transformers, removed four, and eliminated 25 illegal connections; two people were arrested.
