PTI Leader Hammad Azhar Remanded 12 More Days in Lahore

A Lahore anti-terrorism court gave police 12 more days to hold Hammad Azhar for a polygraph test, after the defence objected.

The court extended Hammad Azhar's physical remand by 12 days on a Thursday, after both sides argued the request.

Police said they wanted a polygraph, or lie-detector, test, and the investigating officer alleged Hammad took a leading part in the attack.

The defence said police changed their account of recovered items, including a baton, and asked for judicial remand instead.

Hammad denies the allegations, saying he was in Bhakkar on May 9, 2023, and that he was not questioned during his remand.

The sources do not say when the case will reach its next step.
