LHC raises child maintenance to Rs30,000 with 10% rise

A child maintenance Lahore High Court order lifts support from Rs20,000 to Rs30,000 per child, with a 10 percent yearly rise calculated from 2019.

The Lahore High Court raised monthly maintenance for each minor child from Rs20,000 to Rs30,000.

A 10 percent annual increase is to be calculated from 2019, with the trial court to work out arrears.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani decided a petition by a mother seeking higher maintenance.

The court upheld Rs15,000 monthly for the mother during iddat and Rs280,000 for dowry compensation.

The court said a father’s limited-income claim needs proof such as salary slips, not UK residence alone.
