Major highway projects: PPP model under study for four routes
Officials in Islamabad are reviewing major highway projects, including a 169km M-10 section, as the National Highway Authority seeks less dependence on federal funds.
The government is weighing public-private partnerships for four major road projects to bring in private money.
The list includes a 169km M-10 Motorway section, a planned motorway toward the Chinese border, the Guru Nanak Expressway and a Murree Expressway extension into AJK.
Minister Abdul Aleem Khan asked the NHA to prepare business plans and identify projects suited to private investors.
The stated goal is a financially self-sustaining NHA that relies less on the federal development budget.
Officials will finish preliminary technical work and meet again within a week.
