Mansehra Afghan crackdown: tighter checks on 1,700 Afghans
The Mansehra Afghan crackdown was ordered at a district meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Yasir Ali Khan, and police say 315 illegal Afghans have been repatriated so far.
Mansehra's district administration decided on Friday to crack down on Afghans staying in the district illegally.
Deputy commissioner Yasir Ali Khan said such Afghans would be taken into custody and repatriated without delay.
Checks are to be tightened on around 1,700 Afghan nationals still settled in parts of the district and running businesses.
District police officer Mohammad Waqas Khan said 315 illegal Afghans have been repatriated so far.
Afghans' documents must be verified against NADRA records, as the federal government annulled all cards issued to Afghans last year.
