Government forms four technical groups to boost marble exports
The marble industry in Pakistan faces wasteful quarrying and weak finishing standards, and four new technical groups will now seek fixes under a steering committee.
Advisor Haroon Akhtar Khan formed four technical groups under the Steering Committee on the National Marble and Natural Stone Policy 2026–2030.
The groups will recommend steps on finishing standards, technology upgradation, value addition and export promotion.
Private sector representatives flagged outdated extraction, blasting waste, weak access to technology, logistics and limited market access.
Proposed measures include dedicated exhibitions, support for marble handicrafts and public awareness of marble's durability.
The sources give no deadlines, production figures or export values for the groups' work.
