Maryam Nawaz announces Apna Kisan Bank, Rs17bn loans
At a Lahore farmers’ meeting, the Punjab chief minister also raised Kisan Card DAP financing, backed the Rs4,500 wheat support price, and outlined mechanisation and agro-park plans.
Punjab will set up its first Apna Kisan Bank and roll out Rs17 billion in subsidised agricultural loans covering about five million acres.
Kisan Card DAP financing rises by Rs3,500 per acre, from Rs30,000 to Rs33,500; over one million small farmers already use the scheme.
Maryam Nawaz said the province would ensure the Rs4,500-per-maund wheat support price and expand tractor and agro-processing support.
Markazi Kisan League welcomed the plan and urged direct wheat procurement at Rs4,500 per 40kg without middlemen.
