Nawaz urges policy so athletes get mental preparation
Mohsin Nawaz sports psychologist wants Pakistan to adopt a dedicated Sports Mental Health Policy and pair physical training with structured psychological support.
Sports psychologist Mohsin Nawaz has called for a dedicated Sports Mental Health Policy in Pakistan.
He spoke on the sidelines of the Pakistan Global Mental Health Summit 2026 at a local hotel in Lahore.
He welcomed the National Mental Health Policy and said sport must be part of putting it into practice.
He said teams rely on physical trainers and physiotherapists and should give the same attention to qualified sports psychologists.
Elite athletes face intense expectations, selection uncertainty, performance anxiety and the mental strain of injuries, he said.
