MQM-P warned over delayed polls, election symbol at stake
The Election Commission of Pakistan has given Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan 14 days to explain why it missed the October 15, 2026 intra-party election deadline.
The ECP issued a show-cause notice to MQM-P on October 26 for missing the extended intra-party election deadline of October 15, 2026.
The party has 14 days to explain the delay or face further legal action.
The ECP said failure to hold the polls could leave MQM-P ineligible for an election symbol, including for the next general elections.
Under the Elections Act, 2017, parties must elect office-bearers and file an election certificate with the ECP within seven days.
