Murad Ali Shah flags 143 Karachi road repairs as stalled
At a Sindh Master Plan Authority event, he cited shops on stormwater drains, missing utility maps and procurement delays as barriers to fixing the city.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah blamed urban planners for “ruining” Karachi while speaking at a Sindh Master Plan Authority event.
He said shops were allowed on stormwater drains for cheap rent after many roads were declared commercial, a problem he recalled seeing during the 2020 rains near Yousuf Goth.
He said funds are ready to rework 143 roads, but procurement delays have stopped work from starting.
He flagged missing maps of utility infrastructure and delays from service providers, including the water board.
Figures for completed master plans differ: he cited 14 done with Karachi and Hyderabad still under way; a CM House post quoted him saying 17 cities were complete and 14 more near final stages.
