NCCIA holds Lahore pair after US insurance call scam

Investigators say the suspects posed as US insurance staff to harvest card details; two laptops and three phones were seized after a court warrant.

NCCIA Lahore Zone arrested call centre owner Irshad Ahmed Butt and employee Aurangzeb on Friday.

The alleged illegal centre was on Main Boulevard in Gulberg; action followed open-source intelligence and a court search warrant.

Suspects allegedly posed as US insurance staff to obtain credit and debit card details for unauthorised transactions.

Two laptops and three mobile phones were recovered; devices reportedly held online calling software and fraud-linked data.

NCCIA did not state how many people were targeted or how much money was involved; further investigation is under way.
