Pakistan Army destroys Shapola Base Camp after Taliban fire in Kurram
Security sources said Afghan Taliban fire in Taida and Ghozgarhi drew a Pakistani response that killed several fighters and destroyed Shapola Base Camp.
On 17 October 2026, Afghan Taliban forces opened unprovoked fire in Upper Kurram’s Taida sector and at Ghozgarhi, security sources said.
The Pakistan Army responded by targeting the Afghan Taliban’s Topser post and Shapola Base Camp.
Several Afghan Taliban personnel were killed along the Ghozgarhi border and the base camp was destroyed, sources said.
Sources said the firing was meant to help foreign terrorists cross; Taliban personnel later abandoned a border post.
The episode sits against a wider rise in militant attacks in Pakistan, including a high September 2026 toll recorded by PICSS.
