Asim Munir Tehran visits show positivity, army spokesman says
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Field Marshal Asim Munir’s two October trips to Tehran point to limited progress, while warning unnamed actors still favour prolonged fighting.
DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan remains cautiously optimistic about mediating between Iran and the United States.
Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Tehran twice in October; Saudi and Turkish officials joined him on Monday.
He warned of unnamed “powerful spoilers and detractors” who still prefer the conflict to continue.
He said the August defence understanding with Saudi Arabia and Turkey does not block new partners, including possibly Iran.
On Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said intelligence-based operations would intensify rather than large open campaigns.
